Benefits of Full-Mouth SRP
One treatment option for scaling and root planing is the full-mouth procedure, or one-stage periodontal SRP. Because Oraqix anesthetizes the specific treatment sites, it is not necessary to numb the entire mouth, so full-mouth scaling treatment can be completed in one or two visits instead of the customary 4-visits.11 One full-mouth scaling and root planing visit has been found to be clinically as effective as 4 one-quandrant visits.12
Full-mouth scaling can be more convenient and save time for the patient, without compromising the standard of care.11
Some studies have found that treating the entire mouth in one visit actually stops the translocation of periodontopathogens within the oropharyngeal area, promoting more effective healing of treated areas.10 Following is an overview of the potential benefits of full-mouth SRP:

Saves the patient time and offers them convenience by requiring fewer visits. May save the office time by consolidating appointments and reducing the number of chair turnovers.11

Entire SRP procedure can be performed in one visit, and therefore, repeat visits would not be required.
